This course has been designed to provide information for nurses on the management of urgent bleeds associated with DOAC use, including counselling on the risks and benefits of DOAC use and practical strategies for the use of reversal agents.  ​

After completing this program, it is recommended that you connect with a clinical practice educator or competent peer in your practice setting to assist you develop necessary skills and clinical judgement to use reversal agents safely and appropriately in your  practice setting.​​​

Learning Objectives

After participating in this course, participants will be better able to:

• Counsel patients on the risks and benefits of DOAC use;

• Apply bleed management strategies for DOAC related bleeding;

• Administer reversal agents in the case of an urgent DOAC related bleed;

• Identify when best to restart DOAC therapy after a bleed related interruption.
