Shared decision making

Shared decision making in healthcare is paramount to ensuring that patients are actively involved in their own care journey. It recognizes that patients possess invaluable insights into their preferences, values, and unique circumstances, which are integral to making informed choices about their health.

By fostering collaboration between patients and healthcare providers, shared decision making promotes personalized treatment plans that align with patients' goals and priorities. This approach enhances patient satisfaction, improves adherence to treatment regimens, and ultimately leads to better health outcomes. Embracing shared decision making empowers patients to become partners in their healthcare decisions, fostering trust, transparency, and mutual respect between patients and providers

In collaboration with CITE, Dr Nader Khalidi and Dr Ted Xenodemetropoulos have developed a shared decision making tip sheet tool to aid clinicians in their daily practice.

This initiative has been sponsored in part by Pfizer Canada through an educational grant.
